FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s the best time for a maternity session?

Our maternity sessions are best within weeks 34-36 of pregnancy

What’s the best time for a newborn session?

Newborn sessions are best within the first 2 weeks. With that being said, because we are lifestyle photographers, we are able to capture images of older babies too, and will usually use wrapping to help settle them and keep their hands down from their face to capture their beautiful faces in the photos.

When should I book a newborn session?

We recommend booking in advance so you have one less thing to worry about when baby arrives, but because we are a team of photographers we are accustomed to last minute bookings.

What happens if baby comes early or arrives after my booking date?

Don’t sweat it! We can easily reschedule the date, we do ask that you inform us as soon as possible so we can get you re-booked for an alternate date.

Where are you located?

We are a mobile newborn studio, so we come to you! That’s right, your session is done in your own home. We currently offer services to families in Greater Vancouver, BC including Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, Delta, Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam, Port Moody, and Maple Ridge.

What is the difference between “lifestyle” and “posed” newborn photography?

Lifestyle is more natural and caters well to in-home photography as we can capture your family in different areas of your home (i.e. nursery, bedroom, living room etc.). Baby can be awake or asleep, and these sessions work well for all ages.

Posed newborn photography requires specialized equipment and training, and is only available with our Full Service Newborn package. These images require a lot more time, typically 2 minimum, in order to capture baby asleep in those naked and/or wrapped poses (i.e. froggy pose, side laying, hands on chin, womb pose etc.). Babies should be under two weeks old for best results with the naked, curly sleeping poses.

What type of images are included in each package?

What you can expect are individual images of baby, images of each parent with the baby, and family photos. The Newborn & Family Package allows the time to include siblings, pets, and/or extended family members. Please note if you would like detail photos such as hands and feet, or with a basket prop, this requires more time, so in order to capture these images we recommend our Newborn & Family Package. If you would like unwrapped/naked baby or a few of the more posed prop photos, our Full Service Newborn package is best.

What type of light and space do I need in my home?

As long as you have some natural light coming in to your home, we are accustomed to adapting to each shooting environment. We do not bring studio lighting with us, so will open the blinds/curtains and work close to the windows. While we recommend sending us photos of your space beforehand to help us plan the shots and are open to any specific spots you’d like to include, our photographer will use her artistic and technical discretion while she’s there to determine the ideal spots. We recommend decluttering any areas that might appear in photos for a clean, simple backdrop.

How long does it take to view my photos?

We have a 30-day turnaround policy for your photos but we always endeavor to get your photos to you as soon as possible, and typically deliver within around 2 weeks.
