FAQ - Lifestyle Newborn & Family Photography in Vancouver, BC
What is lifestyle newborn photography?
Lifestyle newborn photography captures your baby’s early days naturally, focusing on real moments and authentic connection in your home or chosen outdoor space. These sessions are relaxed, gentle, and baby‑led - perfect for families who want timeless images instead of highly posed setups.
When should I book my session?
We recommend booking early — ideally during your third trimester — so you’re already on our calendar before your baby arrives. We’re accustomed to last‑minute bookings as well, but early planning ensures better availability.
What’s the best time for a maternity session?
Our maternity sessions are best within weeks 32-36 of pregnancy.
What’s the best time for a newborn session?
Newborn sessions are best within the first 2 weeks. With that being said, because we are lifestyle photographers, we are able to capture images of older babies too, and will usually use wrapping to help settle them and keep their hands down from their face to capture their beautiful faces in the photos.
What happens if baby comes early or arrives after my booking date?
Don’t sweat it! We can easily reschedule the date, we do ask that you inform us as soon as possible so we can get you re-booked for an alternate date.
Where are you located?
We are mobile newborn photographers who bring the session to you! All sessions take place in the comfort of your own home, creating a relaxed and familiar environment for your baby. We proudly serve families throughout Greater Vancouver, BC, including Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, Delta, Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam, Port Moody, and Maple Ridge.
What’s the difference between lifestyle and posed newborn photography?
Lifestyle newborn photography: Natural, relaxed, and captures your family in real moments (baby awake or asleep). Great for in‑home sessions anywhere in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
Posed newborn photography: Requires specialized training and props; baby is typically asleep and positioned for traditional curled poses. This is offered only in our Full Service Newborn package and usually takes more time.
What type of light and space do I need in my home?
We can photograph beautifully in any home with natural light. We don’t bring studio lighting, so we work with the light from your windows and open curtains or blinds to create soft, natural images. If you’d like, you can send photos of your space beforehand to help with planning, and we’re happy to include any special spots you love. During the session, our photographer will use her expertise to find the best angles and backgrounds. Clearing clutter from visible areas helps keep your photos clean, simple, and timeless.
Do you offer sessions on the weekends?
Yes, we’re happy to offer weekend sessions! Because these fall outside our regular working hours and availability is limited, a weekend surcharge of $100 + tax applies.
How long does it take to view my photos?
We aim for a 30-day turnaround for your photos, but we always strive to deliver them as soon as possible — most families receive their images within about two weeks.
