For this Vancouver in-home newborn session, the focus wasn’t on creating a perfectly styled nursery or posing everyone into a series of elaborate setups. It was about the connection between a new baby, a proud big sister, and the quiet moments that happen naturally at home.

The sweetest introduction to big-sisterhood

One of my favourite parts of newborn photography is seeing the relationship between siblings begin to unfold.

Here, big sister was completely engaged with her new baby. The little nose-to-nose moment, the tiny hands reaching out, and the way she looked so closely at her new sibling are the kinds of photographs that don't need much direction.

They simply need a little time and space for the relationship to happen.

Those are often the photographs that become the most meaningful years later.

Newborn photography at home

In-home newborn sessions are intentionally relaxed.

Instead of packing everyone up and heading to a studio, we use the spaces you already know and love - your bedroom, the couch, a favourite chair, or wherever the best natural light happens to be.

And your home does not need to look like a magazine.

There can be laundry. There can be toys. There can be dishes in the kitchen. There can be the wonderfully imperfect evidence that a new baby has just arrived.

Our job is to find the beautiful light, simplify what needs simplifying, and document the people - not the perfection of the house.

We don't believe newborn photography needs to be a collection of complicated poses.

Some babies sleep. Some want to be held. Some are wide awake and curious about everything happening around them. Some need to stop for a feed, a cuddle or a diaper change.

All of that is part of your story.
